Federal Skilled Trades(FST)

This is an immigration program for skilled technical workers in specific professions in Canada.

1. Work experience

Work experience must be full-time or 1560-hour part-time last 5 years in Canada or abroad


  1. Eligible occupations:Industrial, electrical and construction trades
  2. Maintenance and equipment operation trades
  3. Technical jobs in natural resources, agriculture and related production
  4. Processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors and central control operators
  5. Chefs and cooks
  6. Butchers and bakers

2. Language ability (last 2 years)

English (IELTS-G or CELPIP) and/or French (TEF): must be minimum language level of CLB 5 in speaking and listening and CLB 4 in reading and writing


3. LMIA or the Federal Skilled Trades Program certificate holder


Suitable for:
  • Work permit holder based LMIA
  • Worked in the field of the list above

Relatively lower CRS score

Randomly draw for ITA about twice a year

This option focuses on skills in specific areas, which means it is advantageous for those who have the work experience and disadvantage on the age criterion.


You are eligible to apply for FST if the above three requirements are met.


Upload your profile on EE Pool. When your score is greater than or equal to the CRS score, you will get an invitation to apply (ITA). Then, you can upload documents and apply for permanent resident.
